November is open enrollment for Flex Spending Accounts!

To Medicare-eligible retirees:

As of September 1st, the new PDP (Prescription Drug Plan) for 

BCBS Medex and Managed Blue for Seniors is Blue MedicareRx

There is no change to the medical portion of the coverage.

As a result of this change the rollover date for these plans will now be in January instead of July. Since the plans will be on a calendar year schedule, new rates will be effective every January 1st. 

(Tufts Medicare Preferred is already on a calendar year schedule)

This means the enrollment period for Medicare plans (Medex, Managed Blue & Tufts) will take place in November instead of May.

In early November, letters with new rates and details about this new 'November Enrollment Period' will be mailed to all retirees currently enrolled in BCBS Medex, BCBS Managed Blue for Seniors & Tufts Medicare Preferred.  

Retirees (both City and MTRS) will be allowed to change plans, provided all applicable enrollment forms are signed and processed before the deadline. Changes will be effective January 1st. 

Please note - the enrollment period for retiree dental plans will remain in May (with a July 1st effective date).
