City Accountant

The Accounting Office is headed by the City Accountant and is responsible for:

  • Maintenance of the general ledger and all accounting records of the City across 560-plus City funds
  • The preparation of all payrolls (city, school and retirees) for approximately 1,900 current and former employees and maintenance of all withholding records
  • Coordination and preparation of warrants for the payment of all bills for all City funds
  • Internal auditing of all records and offices of the City
  • Reconciliation of all accounts including cash accounts on a regular basis
  • External reporting as required by the federal and state government and their agencies
