April 29th Message from Mayor Cahill

Hi Friends.  This is Mayor Mike Cahill with a Thursday evening COVID-19 update. First, I want to remind you that we have updated vaccine availability information on the Covid page of our city website at www.beverlyma.gov.  Here, you can find links to make vaccine appointments at our two local CVS pharmacies, at the large regional Lynn Technical High School site, at the Double Tree mass vaccination site in Danvers, and others. Recently, the state approved our North Shore regional vaccination site, which will soon open at the Salem State University O’Keefe Center. As soon as we receive vaccine doses from the state, we will notify you and put an appointment link for this site on our website.

Second, on Tuesday, Governor Baker announced an updated schedule for re-opening that, barring any public health setbacks with the virus, will allow for many more summer events and celebrations to take place. At present, we are scheduling Sunday evening concerts at Lynch Park and Thursday evening concerts on the Beverly Common. Beverly’s volunteer Homecoming Committee is working to bring back a streamlined version of Homecoming during the first week of August, the Cabot and Historic Beverly plan to partner again for their porch sessions at Hale Farm, and other local groups are exploring how to bring safe summer fun back to Beverly. We will keep you posted as plans and state guidance progress. In the meantime, to read the state’s updated re-opening guidelines, please go to www.mass.gov.

Here you can also find the Governor’s changes to the state mask order, which will go into effect tomorrow, April 30th. In summary, masks will now be required outdoors in public when it is not possible to maintain six feet distance from other people. Masks will still be required at all times in indoor public places. Masks will also continue to be required at all times at events, whether held indoors or outdoors and whether held in a public space or private home, except when eating or drinking.

During this time when some people are and others are not yet fully vaccinated, I ask that we all continue to be thoughtful and respectful of each other as these changes take effect and as we all continue to make our way through – and hopefully soon – out of this pandemic. Thank you, All. Have a nice evening!
