Introducing the Beverly & Salem Energy Challenge
Through Resilient Together, we learned that more than 50% of our greenhouse gas emissions come from heating, cooling, and powering our buildings.
The Cities of Beverly and Salem have launched a new initiative, the Beverly & Salem Energy Challenge. This project encourages energy efficiency measures such as weatherization and heat pump technology to help you save money and feel more comfortable at home year-round, all while reducing our community’s carbon footprint.
Residential buildings
Over the next year, our joint Energy Challenge sets a goal of 2,000+ Home Energy Assessments, resulting in 700+ insulation upgrades, 250+ heat pump installations, and a substantial reduction in greenhouse gas emissions.
Small Businesses
City staff and local business organizations are joining forces with National Grid this month in a campaign to identify opportunities for Beverly & Salem businesses to save energy and money. Beverly canvassers pounded the pavement in mid-April and invited hundreds of businesses to participate.
Now, Salem staff are looking for volunteers to join the May 3-May 5 campaign. There are several ways you can support this effort, so join the Salem team for an online Info Session: Tuesday, April 26 5:30-6:30. Please email Crystal.Hamlin@EnergySource.com to receive the link and find out more, or contact Energy Source at 1-888-490-7555.
